Today is the day! Yandex’s own web browser I wrote about earlier goes live!
Arkady Volozh, the CEO, announced the release of the browser this morning at YaC (Yet Another Conference), an official event held by Yandex.
Download the browser at http://browser.yandex.ru/ in 12 minutes (17:00 Moscow time) and let me know what you think about it! :)
Hi Anna,
Thanks for the info. I have downloaded and installed the browser. Just a quick note: your link is to browser.yandex.ru, and the default language on the browser when downloaded and installed was Russian.
I tried browser.yandex.com and the same page got loaded using English language and I am guessing the browser will be installed with English as default browser language. Either way this can be changed easily from the browser language settings.
I know that Google has Chrome Store for browser add-ons – https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/home?hl=en. It will be interesting to see if Yandex comes up with something similar.
Hi Plamen,
Thank you for the comment. Yes, true, the link is to the Russian download page. You are actually the second person who points this out – but being a Russian sepaker it’s just so natural for me! I will add this info to the post.
I agree with you, it will be interesting to follow the development of this product, and whether it will become a big enough competitor for Chrome in order for people to actually start developing apps for it. I’ll try to look for stats how many downloads they got since the launch :)
